Lake Rules & Guidelines

These community guidelines help keep Westler Lake safe, enjoyable, and in good shape for everyone. Please review them and share with your guests.

On the Water

  • All boats should be registered and display a current Indiana registration sticker.
  • Life jackets are encouraged for children 12 and under at all times on the water.
  • Please maintain no wake within 200 feet of shore or docked watercraft.
  • We ask that watercraft not be operated after dark without proper lighting.
  • Jet skis and PWC are welcome; same guidelines apply as boats.
  • Please avoid dumping, discharge, or littering on or near the lake.

🌊 Lake Health

  • We ask that you inspect, clean, and dry all watercraft and gear before launching to help prevent invasive species spread.
  • Zebra mussels are present in the region. Please report any unusual growth to the board.
  • As a courtesy, please avoid releasing live bait fish into the lake.
  • We encourage limiting fertilizer use near the shoreline to reduce algae growth.

👥 Guests & Access

  • As a courtesy, we ask that members help ensure their guests are familiar with community guidelines.
  • We encourage all lake visitors to be respectful of property owners and shared spaces.
  • Commercial access to the lake is regulated by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Please refer to the DNR for current regulations.
  • As a courtesy, we suggest giving neighbors a heads-up before operating drones over the lake. Please note this is a community guideline, not a confirmed law or association policy.

Quiet Hours & Courtesy

  • Official quiet hours are set by the county/town at 11:00 PM. As a community courtesy, we suggest keeping noise to a minimum in the late evening and early morning.
  • We ask that music and amplified sound be kept at reasonable levels during daytime hours.
  • Please be considerate of property owners and adjacent landowners at all times.
  • As a courtesy, we encourage giving neighbors advance notice before setting off fireworks. Please note the association cannot require this, but it goes a long way toward being a good neighbor. All fireworks should comply with Indiana law.

Guidelines are reviewed annually at the membership meeting. Contact the board with questions or to report a concern.

Association Board

The board is made up of fellow lake members who volunteer their time to keep the association running. Reach out with questions or concerns.
