The town council may vote at this meeting or schedule a subsequent meeting.
What’s Being Proposed
Lake residents are on unmetered accounts. The proposed rate increases are structured in three phases:
| Period | Monthly Rate |
|---|---|
| April 26, 2026 through end of year | $80.52 / month |
| 2027 | $88.52 / month |
| 2028 | $97.32 / month |
These rates include a 14% out-of-town surcharge.
Context Worth Knowing
- There has been no rate increase in approximately 10 years.
- Lake residents are on a vacuum sewer system, which costs considerably more to maintain than the gravity system used in town.
- For reference, parts of Dallas, Messick, and Hackenberg Lakes on the LaGrange County side pay $88/month; Sylvan Lake residents pay $78/month to Rome City.
- Rates are also increasing for non-lake residents for wastewater treatment.
What You Can Do
Residents are encouraged to attend the public hearing on March 16th to ask questions and make their voices heard before any vote takes place. The town council has three members and may vote at this meeting.
